Seismic Fragility Curves for Reinforced Concrete Dual System Buildings

چکیده

A seismic fragility curve is a visual representation that illustrates the likelihood of structure surpassing particular damage or performance limit state caused by an earthquake with specific intensity ground motion level. This typically generated using probabilistic hazard analysis and structural reliability methods. It based on statistical models rely past data simulations future scenarios to predict system’s behavior under forces. In this study, 30 stories 95 m height dual system reinforced concrete buildings located in Erbil evaluated analyzing three distinct motions. non-linear platform used simulate analyze data, followed generation inter-story drift curves Incremental Dynamic Analysis. The buildings’ assessed five different levels, including operational phase, immediate occupancy, control, life safety, collapse prevention (CP). Each level associated levels corresponding degrees functionality safety. show building has 50% chance achieving exceeding (CP) highly intense vibrations peak acceleration = 1.6 g. addition, these can be beneficial creating local design codes provide significant support evaluating existing buildings.

Fragility Curves for Reinforced Concrete Frames with Lap-Spliced Columns

Placing column lap-splice in the locations of possible nonlinear deformation may adversely affect the structures response to strong ground motions. Localization of damage in splice zone may change the structural response and prevent the load redistribution and development of a uniform pattern of nonlinear excursions among the various members. Validated by existing laboratory experiments, this s...

Probabilistic assessment of the seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings

The main objective of this article is to assess the expected seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings from a probabilistic point of view by using Monte Carlo simulation. To do that, the seismic behavior of the building is studied by using random capacity obtained by considering the mechanical properties of the materials as random variables. Starting from the capacity curves, one can obta...

A methodology for Determining the Seismic Vulnerability of Old Concrete Highway Bridges by Using Fragility Curves

Past earthquakes have demonstrated that old RC bridges may be seismically vulnerable. Bridge responses during the last decades illustrated the necessity of the seismic assessment of bridges especially those which were designed with old codes. In this research an existing concrete bridge representative of the most common bridges in the highway system in Iran are studied. Push over and nonlinear ...

Development of Fragility and Reliability Curves and Seismic Vulnerability Evaluation of Talehzang Concrete Bridge

Bridges are potentially one of the most seismically vulnerable structures in the highway system during earthquake &#10 &#10events. It is known that the seismic performance of transportation systems plays a key role in the post-earthquake emergency management. Hence, it is necessary to evaluate both physical and functional aspects of bridge structures. The physical aspects of the seismic perform...
